The X-Men are getting into some major trouble! A new set video from Avengers: Doomsday may reveal a key battlefield involving the iconic characters.
Even with Avengers: Doomsday officially starting production, and the confirmation that key members of the X-Men will appear in the film, fans still don’t know what exactly lies in store for their favorite mutant team. The confirmed members are a smattering of iconic faces from all across the three movies, though include a number of glaring exceptions such as Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry. This has left fans wondering what exactly this odd assortment will be getting up to.
Fans’ first hint about the fate of the X-Men may come from the first set video from Avengers: Doomsday. The footage reveals a large battlefield being constructed, featuring a number of large creators likely created by explosions. With no actors on set, there’s not a clear purpose for this set just yet. However, many believe it may sit at the center of a massive fight sequence for the upcoming crossover film.
How The X-Men Play Into Avengers: Doomsday
At first, it may seem odd to assume this destroyed battlefield is associated with the X-Men. But look just a bit closer: there are clear bases of statues or fountains, clean cut grass, and pathways of white concrete separating sections into discrete blocks. It’s extremely reminiscent of American colleges, as well as the design of Xavier’s School in the original X-Men trilogy, suggesting this may be our first look at the campus in Avengers: Doomsday.
Of course, the X-Men aren’t the only people associated with campuses. It’s possible that this is fans’ first look at the Avengers Compounds in Avengers: Doomsday following its reconstruction. However, given the lack of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Avengers logos, it’s highly unlikely this is the case, especially given how encompassing the set video is of the small enclosure.
