Is Kang the Conqueror gone for good? A rumor for Avengers: Doomsday suggests Marvel isn’t looking back after Jonathan Majors’ recent controversies.
Marvel has had their plates full for the last few years trying to rework their multiverse saga. Their latest phase was meant to end with a climactic showdown against Kang in Avengers: Kang Dynasty. However, following multiple legal cases being brought against star Jonathan Majors, the studio has quickly pivoted away from the timeline conqueror in favor of the familiar face of Robert Downey Jr. in Avengers: Doomsday.
This has left many fans wondering how Marvel will address Kang the Conqueror in Avengers: Doomsday. The character was set up as a key figure in the creation of the multiverse, with terrible things set to come from a war between Kangs. With the massive crossover set to begin filming next year and there still being no word on a replacement for Jonathan Majors, there’s little in the way of hints as to what the studio will be doing with the character going forward.
Will Kang Be In Avengers: Doomsday?
The answer to this query comes in the form of a new rumor by Hollywood insider Cryptic HD QUALITY. According to the scooper, Marvel originally wanted to minimize Kang’s presence in Avengers: Doomsday following Jonathan Majors’ legal woes. However, at the current state of the script, the character seems to have no presence at all, with the most fans will be getting is a name drop.
This rumor may be disappointing to hardcore fans of Kang the Conqueror who were hoping for the character to be redeemed after Jonathan Majors was recast. However, given the character was also associated with one of Marvel’s biggest flops with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it’s understandable the studio would want to keep the character at arms length going into what may be the most important film for the studios’ future going forward.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
