Is another Civil War coming to the MCU? A new rumor regarding Avengers: Doomsday teases that the heroes for the film may come to blows with each other.
One of the biggest questions leading into Avengers: Doomsday is how Marvel planned to bring together heroes from across the MCU’s different storylines. Unlike the last saga, there was no “Civil War” event to help lead into the final act of the story. If anything, Marvel is rawdogging the franchise like they did back in Age of Ultron.
Yet it seems this lack of cohesion may actually be a major plot point leading into Avengers: Doomsday. The latest rumor suggests that two teams (likely the New Avengers and the Avengers led by Sam Wilson) will come into conflict due to a certain mantle being passed around. However, things only get more complicated when the MCU’s original Mightiest Heroes make their return.
“[The] fate of the entire multiverse hangs in the balance,” Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus wrote on social media “And two of the main teams have tension with each other because the leaders are still trying to sort out the ‘mantle’ debacle. And then add the OG to the mix…”
The Original Avengers Return To The MCU
The idea of the original team making their return in Avengers: Doomsday actually lines up with a prior rumor about the film that suggests Doctor Doom would be assembling his own “Dark Avengers” in the film: this time with their faces matching that of the MCU’s original swathe of actors.
Details about the role that the original Avengers cast will play in the film will likely come out as Avengers: Doomsday gets closer to its release. And, as more and more of the MCU’s biggest names get announced to appear in the film, details about their involvement will likely be confirmed through press releases or interviews.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
