Ghost Rider rides into the MCU! A rumor for Avengers: Doomsday suggests that the Spirit of Vengeance may finally be headed back to the big screen.
The new darling of the rumor mill these past few months has been none other than Ghost Rider. The internet has been awash with leaks and reports suggesting that the character is barreling fast toward the MCU. These hopes were only exasperated by a comment from Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum, who revealed his desire to produce a Ghost Rider series for Disney Plus.
However, fans may not need to wait for a Disney Plus series to see Ghost Rider in the MCU. A rumor from scooper Apocalyptic Horseman suggests that the Spirit of Vengeance will be making their grand return in Avengers: Doomsday. It seems the character’s role isn’t a mere cameo either, stating that he will have a “big role” in the upcoming crossover.
Ghost Rider’s New Role In The MCU
While Ghost Rider is a popular character, he isn’t exactly the type to pal around with the Avengers. This makes many wonder what Marvel’s plan might be to make the character one of the new faces of the MCU in the new era. Some speculate that the character’s role in Avengers: Doomsday could be a backdoor introduction to the Midnight Suns, a team made up of supernatural and gothic figures from across the Marvel universe.
Aside from Midnight Suns, Ghost Rider does have a large rogues gallery to pull from when it comes to MCU-wide storylines. Perhaps the most infamous is Mephisto, who is reported to make their debut in the universe later this year with Ironheart. If the Spirit of Vengeance does serve as the main adversary for the demon, it’s possible he’ll be making an appearance across dozens of different projects in the coming years.
