Is Mark Ruffalo finally hanging up the purple pants? A rumor for Avengers: Doomsday reveals if the Incredible Hulk will finally return to the silver screen.
Mark Ruffalo has always been an odd duck when it comes to the MCU. Despite being a late addition to the main cast, coming in to Edward Norton in 2012’s Avengers, the actor has been a mainstay in the franchise. The Hulk has made a return in every Avengers movie since, and has been by far the most active of the original six during the Multiverse Saga.
This left many perplexed when Mark Ruffalo’s name was left out of the original Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement. Before then, there was no uncertainty that Ruffalo would return to his iconic role. But since then, some fans have been worried that the backlash to “Smart Hulk” may have sidelined the character for what may be one of the biggest cinematic crossovers in history.
Is The Hulk In Avengers: Doomsday?
The latest rumor about the cast of Avengers: Doomsday does shed a bit of light on the situation. Coming from Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus, it does in fact seem to Mark Ruffalo is set to return in both Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. This means that the Hulk will continue his streak of appearing in every Avengers movie, even if fans aren’t the happiest about the form he’ll take.
Though, talking of his forms, the rumor doesn’t state whether Mark Ruffalo will be playing Smart Hulk or regular Hulk. It’s possible that, due to the multiversal elements of Avengers: Doomsday, Ruffalo could return as both versions of the Hulk: the smart one from the sacred timeline and an alternate “Savage Hulk”. Though this idea likely won’t get confirmed either way until the first teasers for the film officially drop!
