Avengers: Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely addressed that potential nod to Namor the Sub-Mariner.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame opened with the surviving heroes of Infinity War learning that Thanos destroyed the Infinity Stones, leaving them with no options to bring back everyone who was killed by the Mad Titan’s decimation. Five years later, the remaining team members stayed in contact as the ventured across different corners of the universe.
During one of these briefings, Okoye mentions underwater tremors and tells Black Widow that the best way to deal with them is by not getting involved. Fans have suspected these tremors were a reference to Namor the Sub-Mariner and the writers of Avengers: Endgame seemingly confirmed this during a Quarantine Watch Party hosted by ComicBook.com, saying, “Sometimes, you plant seeds. Sometimes, they grow.”
