A whole new super team is coming to the MCU in Avengers: Secret Wars! However, a new rumor suggests reunions may not be as happy as they seem.
With production on Avengers: Secret Wars and Doomsday finally ramping up, plot details about the long-awaited finale to the Multiverse Saga are finally finding their way online. While the rumor mill has mostly been focused on the role Doctor Doom will play in the film, and how Marvel Studios plans to work around Kang’s absence in the MCU, they’re not the only details that have been revealed.
Some of these lesser-focused on aspects were revealed in a rumor by the Heavy Spoilers Youtube channel. In it, he discusses that a new team of heroes will be formed in Avengers: Secret Wars (though, given the content described, it’s more likely that he’s discussing events of Avengers: Doomsday that will bleed into Secret Wars.) This new Avengers team will be comprised of legacy characters reflecting the original team, including Sam Wilson, Yelena Belova, Kate Bishop, and Spider-Man (who will serve as the legacy character for Iron Man).
The Old Avengers’ Roles In Secret Wars
According to the rumor, these new heroes will find a variant of the OG six at some point within Avengers: Secret Wars. This will allow for some long-awaited reunions, with the biggest highlighted by the channel being Yelena Belova reuniting with Natasha Romanoff. The two teams will band together to face some form of threat, potentially being the incursions set up at the end of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.
However, it seems as though this new team will be far from amicable throughout the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. The rumor states that the team will be led by Robert Downey Jr.’s version of Doctor Doom, eventually revealing themselves to be evil and coming to blows with their legacy counterparts in the MCU. This brings much higher emotional stakes to the film than previously thought, especially given how little set up Doctor Doom has gotten in the saga until now.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
