Avengers: Secret Wars will apparently “serve as a soft reboot” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), according to journalist Joana Robinson, the writer of the newly released MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios
“We have a quote from Kevin Feige sort of implying that, like, Secret Wars will serve as a soft reboot in which they can prune everything,” Robinson said on The Watch podcast while promoting the the dishy insider book.
“That’s not to use a Loki-ism,” Robinson added. “[They’ll] prune everything that’s not working and just keep what is [working], or bring back people you thought were gone forever.”
Avengers: Endgame – was the epic conclusion to the Infinity Saga that left Marvel Studios facing a daunting challenge, because lets keep it very real – this current phase is an unmitigated disaster.
Not only did they lose major stars and headliners like Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans, but Marvel embarked on this current phase which has proven to be both uneventful and a rollercoaster ride of unpredictability.
Fans’ enthusiasm for the Multiverse concept in both the Marvel and DC universes hasn’t been unanimous, and now all eyes are fixated on the horizon for the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars.
The future of the Avengers franchise
Amidst criticism surrounding the current phase of the MCU, a prevalent concern is the absence of a definitive ‘face’ to symbolize the franchise. This has prompted fans to speculate about the leading role in the forthcoming climax of the Multiverse Saga, Avengers: Secret Wars.
A recent rumor suggests that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will step up as the film’s central protagonist, with a diverse cast of characters from Marvel’s extensive cinematic legacy joining him. But that is not all, according to an insider, Hugh Jackman wants in as Wolverine as well, and in a big way too.
Hugh Jackman, renowned for his iconic portrayal of Wolverine, stands as one of Marvel’s most prominent stars, both within and beyond the MCU. While the actor is poised to don the claws once more for Deadpool 3, it raises the tantalizing prospect that this may not necessarily mark the ultimate farewell.
Can both Holland and Jackman fill the void left by Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans? Only time will tell.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is the first movie in a two-part finale to Marvel’s Multiverse Saga. It will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars, rounding out Marvel Studios’ Phase 6.
Marvel Studios has enlisted Destin Daniel Cretton to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, with Jeff Loveness handling the script. For Avengers: Secret Wars, Michael Waldron has been tasked with crafting the story, although the director’s seat remains vacant at this time.
Amidst the anticipation surrounding the expansive Multiverse Saga and its stellar ensemble, Marvel aficionados are eagerly awaiting the next two Avengers installments.
