Filmmaker Kevin Smith recently snapped a couple of photos with Bad Times at the El Royale star Jon Hamm and praised the actor’s potential to play the iconic DC Comics superhero Batman on the big screen.

Batman is one of the most iconic comic book characters in history. Some could even argue that he’s the most iconic. The character has inspired readers across the world for almost a century, so there are millions of fans all over the globe who have millions of different ideas as to who could be a great Bruce Wayne/Batman. When Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was announced in 2013, fans immediately started gushing over who they’d like to see play the Caped Crusader. Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 star Josh Brolin was a fan-favorite at the time, as was Mad Men star Jon Hamm.

Even today, fans still make art depicting Hamm as the iconic DC vigilante. Ben Affleck’s portrayal of Batman won fans over in Batman v Superman, even some who disliked the film, but the actor’s future in the DC Extended Universe still seems to have a Riddler-esque giant question mark sitting right next to it. If Affleck were to step down from the role, many fans would love to see Hamm play Batman. One of Hamm’s biggest supporters right now is none other than Kevin Smith. Check out the post below to see what Smith had to say about Hamm donning the cape and cowl.

If you’re unaware of Kevin Smith’s extensive filmography, you may know him as the co-host of the podcast Fatman Beyond alongside Castle Rock writer Marc Bernardin. Smith has also directed episodes of The Flash and Supergirl but he has always been very open and honest about his thoughts on films like Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad. Though Smith and plenty of fans across the world would love to see Hamm as Batman, they will just have to wait patiently to see what Warnr Bros. and DC have in store for The Batman, written and directed by Matt Reeves.
