Heroic Hollywood Editor-in-Cheif Umberto Gonzalez has provided an update on the status of Matt Reeves’ script for The Batman and when Warner Bros. hopes to begin production on the DC project.
Earlier this month, Matt Reeves handed his first draft of The Batman to Warner Bros. and the studio reportedly loves the filmmaker’s script. According to Gonzalez, the studio is currently doing revisions as the creative team behind the film is “dedicated to getting it right.” Furthermore, Warner Bros. is eyeing a production start date for The Batman in summer 2019.

Details on the story for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the project is rumored to be centered on a younger Caped Crusader and Matt Reeves confirmed that it will not be based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic.
The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films, including The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, New Gods, Nightwing, a Deathstroke film, and a Joker origin movie set outside of the DCEU.
