Social Media Crowns ‘Beauty And The Beast’ With Most Buzz

Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the animated classic Beauty and the Beast generated the highest buzz on social media last week with nearly 130,000 new conversations according to media measurement firm comScore and its PreAct service.

The film’s star Emma Watson was featured on the cover of Entertainment Weekly. The actress dished on the bringing the character of Belle to life and a featurette was released taking audiences behind the scenes of the incredible production for Beauty and the Beast.

The film also stars Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as Le Fou, Ewan McGregor as Lumière, Sir Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Kevin Kline as Belle’s father Maurice, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette.

Beauty and the Beast hits theaters March 17, 2017.

Coming in second place last week was Star Wars: The Last Jedi with 101,000 new conversations. Director Rian Johnson was announced to be a guest on a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando this year alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. The director also shared a new image from the set on Tumblr revealing a slight tweak in the design of the betaplast helmet for the First Order Stormtroopers.

The film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran, and Andy Serkis.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters December 15, 2017.

In third place was 20th Century Fox’s Logan, Hugh Jackman’s third and final outing as Wolverine generated 68,000 new conversations last week after critics were screened the film resulting in critical acclaim. The film is being regarded as the best Wolverine film in the franchise and one of the best superhero films of all time. Logan is currently tracking for a $60 million debut ahead of its release which is now less than two weeks away.

Kong: Skull Island, the second installment Legendary Pictures’ cinematic monster universe came in at fourth generating 24,000 news conversations last week. Several clips from the film were released including Kong battling a skull crawler and another with Samuel Jackson pulling a gun on John Goodman’s character. In fifth was the upcoming Power Rangers reboot from Lionsgate producing 21,000 new conversations last week. The studio released a brand new trailer as well as a new TV spot for the film on Friday. You can watch both here.
