Is Ben Affleck ready to get back in the saddle? The Daredevil star reflects on his time as the hero, and if he’d ever tango with Jon Bernthal’s take on The Punisher.

When people think of Ben Affleck’s superhero tenure, most modern minds immediately snap to Batman. However, before he was the Dark Knight, he was the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Back in 2003, Affleck starred in the first adaptation of Daredevil on the silver screen, resulting in universal “mehs” from audiences across the globe.

However, one must keep in mind that 2003 was a very different time for superhero media. Daredevil came out in a time where the genre was still finding its footing. When talking about the film, Ben Affleck points out that the film came at a time where Marvel didn’t have a figurehead like Kevin Feige, resulting in some growing pains that paved the way for future projects.

Daredevil was an interesting story,” Affleck told Jake’s Takes in a recent interview. “It was before Kevin Feige had stepped into the role of running Marvel. He imposed a kind of clarity of tone across those movies that sort of figured out the trickiest thing, which is, ‘How do you balance a movie where you got people wearing pajamas and have superpowers, and how seriously you take it, and how much humor is in it, and how much you wink at the audience, and what does the action have to look like?'”

“It coincided with visual effects getting to a place where it could look really convincing. It paved the way for great actors like [Jon Bernthal] to really get it done.”

Will Ben Affleck’s Daredevil Fight The Punisher?

While Ben Affleck has mostly stepped away from the world of superheroes, he is currently on a press tour with Jon Bernthal, who plays The Punisher in the MCU. This has led many to wonder if Bernthal could convince him to don the Daredevil mantle one last time for a rumble between the co-stars of The Accountant 2. However, it seems Affleck has no desire to face-off against Bernthal in the game of spandex and capes.

“There’s a new Daredevil, I haven’t seen it yet, but I certainly love the character, I wish him the best, but I wouldn’t tangle with his Punisher.”

Of course, even though Ben Affleck doesn’t have a desire to square-off with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, that doesn’t mean the door is completely closed to a return. It’s possible that Bernthal serves as the worm in his ear needed to get him to sign on for Avengers: Secret Wars. However, given Affleck’s history with crossover films, it’s more “not” than likely.

Ben Affleck’s Daredevil is currently streaming on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
