Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has topped the box office again for the second weekend in row.
Last week, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opened in theaters to the top spot at the box office. The film, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, is currently in its second weekend, which it just topped once again.
The Marvel Studios sequel has grossed approximately $61 million this weekend, dropping 68% from last weekend. This brings the domestic box office totals to $291.9 million. In regards to the film’s international performance, it also dropped the same percentage, making $83.5 million overseas, bringing it to a cumulative total of $396.2 million to a worldwide total of $688.1 million.
Doctor Strange box office legs?
The sequel received a B+ CinemaScore grade from audiences, which is lower than most MCU films. Although the film has received mostly positive reviews, some have criticized the film for its script issues among other things. Word of mouth on the film is certainly less enthusiastic than something like Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the addition of horror elements may have alienated some of the families with young children from repeat visits.
