Benedict Cumberbatch Reveals When ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Starts Filming

Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch revealed when the mystical sequel begins filming in a recent interview.

Benedict Cumberbatch recently teased when he’ll step back into the role of the Sorcerer Supreme for the Doctor Strange sequel, which is set to explore the multiverse. Fans are desperate to learn more about the mysterious film, which surprisingly managed to snag legendary horror director Sam Raimi following Scott Derrickson’s departure from the project. A previous report suggested the film might start production in November, but Benedict Cumberbatch teased that work on Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness could begin even sooner.

When speaking to Watchtime India about the watches he wears alongside his hobbies, Benedict Cumberbatch revealed that he’s in pre-production on the Doctor Strange sequel and further explained that he starts filming either at the end of this month or at the beginning of November. He’s not the only star excited for the second film, with Chiwetel Ejiofor noting that getting Sam Raimi onboard is an incredible addition for the film. “I’m in pre-production with the second Doctor Strange film, which is very exciting. We will start filming in late October or early November.”

Details on Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness are currently limited, though it is said to feature horror elements. Furthermore, the Disney Plus mini-series WandaVision will also serve as the lead-in to the sequel. Scott Derrickson is still attached to the film as an executive producer, with Sam Raimi set to direct from a script written by Michael Waldron. The sequel will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, and Elizabeth Olsen.
