‘Birds Of Prey’ Nod Spotted In ‘The Suicide Squad’ Featurette

It appears The Suicide Squad will connect to Birds of Prey in at least one way.

A connection to Harley Quinn’s previous appearance in Bird of Prey was spotted in the newly-released featurette for The Suicide Squad.

In Birds of Prey, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn breaks up with The Joker and is on her own until she meets up with Cassandra Cain, Renee Montoya, Black Canary, and Huntress. At the end of the film, Harley Quinn appears to be on her own once again. Given the direction DC Films is heading in with the Multiverse, it was unclear how connected The Suicide Squad will be to Birds of Prey.

On the DC Cinematic subreddit, a fan noticed one Birds of Prey connection in The Suicide Squad featurette. In the footage that debuted during DC FanDome, we see a brief look at Harley Quinn with a tattoo that says “Property of No One.” Of course, Harley Quinn’s original tattoo said “Property of The Joker,” but her relationship status has changed given what happened in Birds of Prey. You can check out the Birds of Prey connection below.

Appreciation: Nice BOP continuation “Property of No One” from DC_Cinematic

Here is the official synopsis for Birds of Prey:

“You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.”

Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Birds of Prey is available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters on August 6, 2021.
