‘Black Adam’ Producer Talks Henry Cavill’s Superman Joining The Film

Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia discussed the possibility of Henry Cavill playing Superman in the Dwayne Johnson film.

With news that Black Adam will being shooting relatively soon, fans have been wondering if any other superheroes in the DCEU will be cameoing in the film. During a promotional event for Jumanji: The Second Level, which is produced by Hiram Garcia and stars Dwayne Johnson, ComicBook.com asked the Black Adam producer if there’s a chance we’ll be seeing Henry Cavill play Superman in the film.

As expected, the answer regarding Superman actor Henry Cavill joining Black Adam was coy, but the answer did involve the producer discussing how much of a fantastic relationship Henry Cavill has with Dwayne Johnson and the producing team.

“I think the DC Universe is a wonderful universe and we’re open to everything. We have big aspirations for it. We’re friends with Henry. Dwayne and Henry are friends, it’s a huge comic book brand as well. And I always just loved the idea. Who knows? But man, Black Adam for Superman is really cool. That’d be really powerful.”

Just recently, Henry Cavill discussed how he isn’t done playing Superman in the DCEU. Henry Cavill mentioned that things will be in motion and that fans will eventually see what’s next for Superman. It would be fantastic to see Henry Cavill’s Superman join Dwayne Johnson in Black Adam, especially considering both actors are such good friends. Beyond that, Henry Cavill is managed by Dany Garcia’s management firm. Dany Garcia is Dwayne Johnson’s producing partner and brother of Hiram Garcia, so all seems to be in the family. Henry Cavill was also expected to cameo as Superman in Shazam! but things didn’t work out due to scheduling issues.

Warner Bros. and DC’s Shazam! was originally going to feature Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam before the decision was made to give the character his own standalone film.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.

Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
