Another batch of Batgirl set photos contain several Easter eggs referencing Black Canary.
Based on all the set photos we’ve seen so far from HBO Max’s Batgirl, the upcoming film will feature many cool DC Easter eggs. The latest reveal that Black Canary‘s presence will also be felt in the film.
The Black Canary connection is no surprise since Batgirl scribe Christina Hodson also wrote Birds of Prey. Jurnee Smollett is also set to reprise her Birds of Prey role in an HBO Max spin-off film, so there’s a chance Batgirl might set it up with both hitting the streaming service. You can check out the Batgirl set photos below.
Here is the synopsis for Birds of Prey:
“You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.”
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Batgirl writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
Birds of Prey is available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Batgirl, Black Canary, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more exclusive video content.
