New footage from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Ironheart screened exclusively at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA.

Marvel Studios held a presentation at the 2022 D23 Expo, in which new footage from their upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and new series Ironheart was screened. Ryan Coogler returns to direct the sequel to his acclaimed 2018 film, and will also serve as an executive producer on the latter Disney Plus original series, which will star Dominique Thorne, who will make her debut in Coogler’s sequel.

The politics of Wakanda.

The footage screened at the D23 Expo for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever showcased the Queen (Angela Basset) confronting world governments about their refusal to share Vibranium with the rest of the world, which also features a sequence in which a special ops team attempt to break into a facility that holds it. Naturally, the Dora Milaje takes those soldiers down. In the meantime, footage featuring Namor, the Sub-Mariner (Tenoch Huerta) was also shown, in which he is shown fighting with M’Baku (Winston Duke).

Meet RiRi Williams

In the exclusive footage for Ironheart, Jim Rash reprises his role from Captain America: Civil War, and is shown going through RiRi Williams’ projects. In the Heights star Anthony Ramos is confirmed to play The Hood, and footage of RiRi forging her armor is also shown.

Ironheart will first appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Here is the synopsis:

“In Marvel Studios’ ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.”

Directed by Ryan Coogler from a script he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever stars Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Tenoch Huerta, Martin Freeman, and Angela Bassett.
