First looks at Okoye and Shuri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have been revealed from an upcoming promotional tie-in.

In less than a month, Marvel Studios’ newest film, Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters. Months after that highly-anticipated film strikes into theaters, another eagerly-anticipated sequel is also on the way: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Although the film will unfortunately tell a story without King T’Challa due to Chadwick Boseman’s passing, returning characters such as Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Shuri (Letitia Wright) are making their return, carrying on the legacy that their Academy Award-nominated colleague left behind.

Marketing for Wakanda Forever has yet to begin, but we already have a glimpse at one upcoming promotional tie-in with Sprite Zero Sugar. Here, we get our first glimpses at Okoye and Shuri, doing the Wakandan salute. You can check it out down below:

Who will take over as the new Black Panther?

Back in December 2020 during Disney Investors Day, Kevin Feige confirmed that King T’Challa would not be recast. Following that announcement, speculation regarding the character who would take on the mantle of Black Panther has continued nonstop since then. Some have debated the likes of Okoye and Shuri, given both of their close connections to T’Challa, while some are also speculating that M’Baku (Winston Duke) could take over as well.

Directed by Ryan Coogler from a script he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole, the film stars Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Martin Freeman as Everett Ross, Daniel Kaluuya as W’kabi, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams/Ironheart, and Michaela Coel.

The sequel will hit theaters on November 11, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film, as well as the future of Okoye and Shuri in the MCU, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original content.
