Blue Beetle is set to be a story of Xolo Maridueña’s Jaime Reyes bonding with the Scarab Khaji-Da to help save the world. A new post reveals that the scarab will be voiced than none other than Rebbeca Marie Gomez, a.k.a. Becky G.
While many people associate Blue Beetle with the wielders of the scarab in characters like Ted Kord and Jaime Reyes, the scarab Khaji-Da has been a consistent influence on all incarnations of the character, being the alien weapon that either inspires the characters or physically empowers them to save the world. They’re two halves of a whole. Thanks to a recent Instagram post by Becky G account, it’s been revealed Xolo Maridueña’s other half will be none other than the popular singer. The full announcement can be seen below:
Blue Beetle won’t be the first time Becky G has branched out into acting. Rebbeca Marie Gomez has previously portrayed Trini Kwan in the 2017 Power Rangers reboot, as well as a few smaller productions like A.X.L.. What is notable is that Khaji-Da is usually portrayed with a male voice in projects such as Young Justice and Batman: The Brave and the Bold, meaning this film is breaking new ground in more ways than one.
A brand new clip of Becky G voicing Khaji-Da in Blue Beetle has been released following the announcement. The clip also gives fans their first look at Raoul Max Trujillo as Carapax the Indestructible Man as he faces off against Xolo Maridueña’s Jaime Reyes.
