Blue Beetle, the upcoming DC superhero movie starring Xolo Mariduena had a surprise panel on Saturday down at CCXP where they premiered the new teaser poster. Check it out!
Rumors of delays on social media seem premature as the Blue Beetle movie is still on schedule to premiere on August 18, 2023.
Mariduena was on hand along with leading lady and Brazilian stunner Bruna Marquezine to promote the movie at the panel.
According to Collider’ Steve Weintraub who was at the panel, attendees got the poster as souveneir in a protective sleeve.
Maridueña is on track to be one of the few Latino superheroes on the big screen, recently he revealed to USA Today that his DCEU makes him intimidated as it is his first feature film.
“Honestly, it feels like I’ve skipped a few stepping stones. ‘Cobra Kai’ has been such a wonderful opportunity, (and) it feels a little bit intimidating being this is my first movie and it’s in a realm that’s totally different than anything I’ve ever worked on. I’m nervous, but I’m excited. It’s gonna be important, not only for Latinos and to see people of color, brown people, represented onscreen, but also show a story that we haven’t really seen before.”
The Cobra Kai star then went on to reveal that he’s tried on the Blue Beetle suit and how the studio hopes to see him become more fit.
“We’ve done two suit fittings. They’re hoping that I get more buff by the time we actually start filming. But I’ve seen the suit, and it looks awesome.”
Created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers, and Cully Hamner, Jaime Reyes made his first appearance in the pages of 2006’s Infinite Crisis #5. A live-action version of Jaime made an appearance in the Superman prequel series Smallville, with Jaren Brandt Bartlett playing the DC Comics hero.
Directed by Angel Manuel Soto, Blue Beetle stars Xolo Maridueña as the titular character. The film is being written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer with John Rickard producing.
