Many fans were excited at the prospect of seeing Bob Odenkirk, best known for his role as Saul Goodman in the Breaking Bad universe of shows, potentially making his way into the Marvel Universe with the upcoming Wonder Man series. However, Odenkirk shut down these rumors, saying that he’s not cut out to wear spandex.
Rumors of Bob Odenkirk’s Marvel casting started around the announcement of the Wonder Man series. According to insiders, Odenkirk was originally being considered for the role of Neal Saroyan, the agent of Simon Williams. That role of Simon’s agent is now rumored to be taken by Ed Harris. When asked about these rumors in a recent interview with The Independent, Odenkirk said that he’s not made for the world of superheroes, preferring to keep things grounded:
“I always like to keep things grounded, relatable and smaller. I don’t think I’m built for that world,” Odenkirk said. “I’m built for characters that make you feel like that guy could live next door.”
While his words may be true, Bob Odenkirk hasn’t shied away from action-focused roles in the past, the most notable of which being his role in Nobody, a film written by the scribe of the John Wick franchise. It’s possible that in the future Odenkirk may change his mind and join the ranks of Marvel or DC. Though for now, it seems as though when it comes to Marvel roles, Odenkirk is good, man.
Who is Marvel’s Wonder Man?
Wonder Man is a superhero from the Marvel Comics universe with a unique backstory.
