A fresh still from Captain America: Brave New World has surfaced, giving us a closer look at Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, in his Captain America gear, alongside Xosha Roquemore’s mystery character and director Julius Onah.
This new image, showcases Sam Wilson in what appears to be a strategic war room setting, fully suited up and ready for action. The anticipation for this movie spiked further when it was previously rumored that the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine might feature a trailer for Captain America: Brave New World this summer.
Xosha Roquemore is rumored to be playing Leila Taylor, a character first introduced in the comics back in 1971 by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. Originally depicted as a journalist and an advocate for equal rights who worked at The Daily Bugle, the film adaptation hints at a different twist. Roquemore’s Leila Taylor might be involved with the CIA or the Secret Service, a direction that aligns well with the storyline involving President Ross.
Returning to the same hotel in D.C. where we filmed ‘Winter Soldier‘ was surreal. It’s amazing to reflect on how far Sam has come in these ten years,” Mackie previously said.
“One of my first Marvel scenes was me sitting at a table talking to the senator, and me and Chris [Evans] and Scarlett [Johansson] kidnapping him and we go back and we stay at the same hotel and we shot at that same area,” Mackie added. “So in that regard, it was really emotional to think how far my character has come and where he is now after the 10 years that I’ve been in the MCU.”
The film stars Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, Liv Tyler, and WWE Superstar Seth Rollins, promising a blend of talent that will bring new energy and depth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Director Julius Onah, along with screenwriters Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton contributed additional scenes. Additional photography is scheduled for this summer.
Captain America: Brave New World will be released in theaters February 14, 2025.
