Shira Haas is set to make her debut as the controversial superhero Sabra in Captain America: Brave New World. A new report suggests that the character is being introduced as a mutant.
This report comes from scooper MyTimeToShineHello who claims that, while Captain America: Brave New World won’t use the time “mutant,” Sabra will maintain her comic origin by having her powers since birth. This would make the character played by Shira Haas the first MCU hero to be born with powers, as long as fans don’t count aliens.
The title of the first MCU “mutant” can certainly be disputed, as both Ms. Marvel and Wanda Maximoff have laid claims to the title in previous projects. However, Captain America: Brave New World‘s Sabra would be the first character not to have their abilities activated by an outside force, making her much closer to the mutants of Marvel Comics.
What to expect from the Captain America sequel
Details regarding the plot of Captain America: Brave New World are being kept under wraps. Thunderbolt Ross (Harrison Ford) and The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson) are expected to serve as the main villains of the movie, which is currently in production for a May 2024 release.
Julius Onah is directing Captain America: Brave New World, working from a script by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The cast of the movie also includes Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Shira Haas as Sabra, with Xosha Roquemore on board in an undisclosed role.
