See ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Star Charlie Cox Suit Up For Disney Plus Series

The hero of Hell's Kitchen gets a fresh look!

Charlie Cox Daredevil Netflix Disney Plus

A stunning concept design shows Charlie Cox suited up as Daredevil for his upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series on Disney Plus.

Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock was last seen suiting up as the Man without Fear in the Disney Plus series She-Hulk. Prior to his MCU return, Cox’s Daredevil series was axed at Netflix, along with the other Marvel shows from the streaming giant, as the advent of Disney Plus saw new MCU content coming to Disney’s own platform. However, the popularity of Cox’s Daredevil seems to have triumphed and the series is set to make a comeback — the only Marvel Netflix series to be revived for Disney Plus so far.

A New Look For Daredevil’s New Home?

Marvel’s characters are no strangers to wardrobe changes, with the majority of the MCU heroes getting a new look with every film or series in which they appear. It makes sense that heroes like the Avengers, with a wealth of resources and technology at their disposal, would keep updating their suits and equipment to better combat new threats. However, even the street-level heroes like Daredevil could do with a fresh look every now and then.

Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock went through a few costume changes over the course of his Netflix series. His initial Daredevil costume was a homemade all-black outfit with a bandana mask, which was subtly upgraded over the course of the first series. Eventually, in the Season 1 finale, he got his classic red threads from Melvin Potter, Wilson Fisk’s tailor who specialized in lightweight bullet-proof clothing.

When Daredevil’s cowl took a bullet from Frank Castle, A.K.A. the Punisher, in Season 2, he got an upgrade that resembled his comic-book look a little more closely. Season 3 then saw him revert to a stripped-back version of his homemade black suit while he was deprived of his classic costume. Meanwhile, She-Hulk featured Daredevil in a yellow and red costume, a departure from his Netflix color scheme.

When Matt Murdock suits up again in his highly-anticipated Disney Plus series, the chances are Marvel will jump at the chance to reimagine his Daredevil look once again. This concept design from Instagram user “spdrmnkyxxiii” depicts a new, streamlined look for the Man Without Fear.

Very little is known of the direction the Disney Plus series will take Daredevil. Marvel’s Netflix series were aimed at a more adult audience, incorporating darker themes and imagery than mainstream MCU projects. It seems likely that a Disney Plus Daredevil will be a little more family friendly, bringing it in line with other Disney Plus shows, even if it skews towards the darker end of that spectrum. However, with Marvel Studios vowing to keep Deadpool 3 R-rated now that the character is being brought into the MCU, maybe there’s also room for the more adult tones of Daredevil.

Little is known of Daredevil: Born Again, with plot details being kept under wraps, but the show’s 18-episode first season makes it Marvel’s biggest Disney Plus venture to date. Matt Corman and Chris Ord are writing and executive producing the series for the streaming service, with production expected to begin early next year in New York City.

Born Again is rumored to feature the return of Matt Murdock’s best friend and business partner Foggy Nelson, played by Elden Henson. Earlier this year, Deborah Ann Woll also expressed her interest in reprising the role of Karen Page for the Disney Plus series. Karen and Foggy were two of the main characters of the original Daredevil series on Netflix, working alongside Matt.

Daredevil: Born Again is currently scheduled to premiere in Spring 2024 on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Born Again and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
