Daredevil star Charlie Cox has admitted that he never expected to return to the role and that the call for Spider-Man: No Way Home came out of the blue.

The production for Spider-Man: No Way Home was subject to a ton of leaks. One of the most notable was that Charlie Cox would be returning as Daredevil/Matt Murdock as Peter Parker’s lawyer following the events of Far From Home. Despite numerous denials, this turned out to be true.

In the film, Charlie Cox had a brief role as Daredevil appearing as Peter Parker’s lawyer. The character effectively cleared up any legal issues he may have had with his battles with Mysterio and shocked everyone in the room when he caught a brick thrown through the window. More recently, Charlie Cox opened up about his return as everyone’s favorite blind lawyer.

While speaking to HeyUGuys Charlie Cox admitted that he didn’t ever expect to return as Daredevil, stating that his involvement in the MCU had been dead and buried for a long time and that the offer came out of nowhere:

“It’s a relief to be able to talk about it. Y’know, getting that phone call was a life-changing moment, really…. My involvement with that character and the MCU was dead and buried, I hadn’t heard anything for a couple of years and so I’d moved on. It was incredibly unexpected and out of the blue.”
