Is Daredevil: Born Again starting with a clean slate? Charlie Cox reveals how the Disney Plus series will connect to its Netflix predecessor.
One of the biggest worries fans have had about Daredevil: Born Again has been that the series will forget its roots and sanitize its history for a Disney Plus audience. While the show’s creative reboot did quell these fears by placing the show strictly in the continuity of the Netflix show, fans were still unsure how attached Charlie Cox’s Man Without Fear would be to the character’s history in the spiritual sequel.
Luckily, it seems as though Daredevil: Born Again may be more of a direct continuation than fans may have believed. Charlie Cox explained that, while at first they attempted to completely reboot the show for Disney Plus, the current direction of the series is almost a direct continuation of the story started on Netflix all the way back in 2015.
“There was talk early on about reinventing the whole thing, to see if Matt was a slightly different person,” Cox explained to Empire in a recent feature. “But it ended up more of a continuation. A lot of the history follows on. The relationships and dynamics set up in the previous seasons still exist.”
How Daredevil: Born Again Picks Up From The Netflix Series
It seems as though the Disney Plus series won’t be afraid to throw new fans into the deep end with the dynamics set up in the Netflix era of the show. Continuing his talk about Daredevil: Born Again, Charlie Cox reveals the start of the project picks up with the iconic trio of Matt, Foggy and Karen in the groove established at the end of season 3, only for things to quickly crumble down around them.
“A few years have passed,” Cox continued. “In that time, Matt, Foggy, and Karen have found a pretty good rhythm. Matt’s made peace with his role both as a lawyer and a vigilante. Then, of course, shit hits the fan.”
The more things change, the more they stay the same. The Netflix series was infamous for kicking the ladder out from under Matt the moment things started going well, so it’s a relief that Daredevil: Born Again will continue to brutalize the character’s emotional state on Disney Plus. Charlie Cox truly seems to be back and better than ever as the Hornboy of Hell’s Kitchen!
Daredevil: Born Again will release in March 4, 2025 on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
