Who is Chiwetel Ejiofor playing in Venom: The Last Dance? The actor’s mysterious role in the highly-anticipated sequel has finally been revealed!
Ever since it was announced that Chiwetel Ejiofor would be appearing in Venom: The Last Dance, fans were scratching their head at who he could play. At first, some believed him to be playing some variant of Baron Mordo, until the trailer came out unveiling him to be a military man in the sequel. After that, the floodgates opened about who he could play, with everyone from Orwell Taylor to the villainous symbiote god himself Knull.
However, it seems almost nobody guessed Chiwetel Ejiofor’s true role in Venom: The Last Dance. According to a tie-in comic for the released by Sony Pictures Korea and new information revealed at New York Comic Con, the actor will be playing the character of Rex Strickland. While this left fans even more confused about his character, it actually reveals some key information about the upcoming sequel.
Who Is Rex Strickland In Venom: The Last Dance?
In the comics, Rex Strickland is a Vietnam War veteran, which already makes him far different from Chiwetel Ejiofor’s take on the role in Venom: The Last Dance. However, he’s more well-known by the name Tyrannosaurus, which was the name of the symbiote given to him by Nick Fury during the war. While the two were eventually killed by Wolverine, the symbiote would return to Knull’s hivemind, inspired by Rex to help fight with Venom to overthrow the tyrant.
While it’s not likely Hugh Jackman will be appearing in Venom: The Last Dance, it’s possible that the character’s comic origins could give fans some insight on the sequel. Particularly, this could mean that Chiwetel Ejiofor will make a face-turn in the film, turning to the side of good to help stop Knull for good, and potentially saving the lives of Eddie Brock and Venom in return.
Venom: The Last Dance opens in theaters on October 25, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Venom series and makes sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
