Members of the Guardians of the Galaxy are set to make an appearance in Chris Hemsworth’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
Avengers: Endgame concluded with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor boarding the Guardians of the Galaxy’s ship in search of a new purpose after relinquishing his Asgardian crown to Valkyrie. As a result, many fans hoped that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy would play a role in each other’s future adventures.
The first project in Marvel Studios’ phase 4 slate to feature Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder and the Guardians will be Thor: Love and Thunder as it appears director Taika Waititi has plans to include the intergalactic team of misfits. During an interview with ComicBook.com, Vin Diesel, who voices Groot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, mentioned that he has talked to Taika Waititi about plans to include some members of the Guardians in the fourth Thor film:
“Thor will also, the director talked to me about Thor will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which will be very interesting. Nobody knows, maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.”

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale. The film will be based on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book run, with Portman’s Jane Foster set to become the new Thor.
While production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was scheduled to begin early this year, the project was put on hold following Disney’s decision to remove James Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy. Now, Gunn will begin production on the third Guardians of the Galaxy film after completing work on The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC. Details on the third chapter of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy are currently unknown, though the film will likely explore the ramifications of the universe-changing events in Avengers: Endgame.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn.
While a release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has not been announced yet, Thor: Love and Thunder is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 5, 2021.
