Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi revealed Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher has the highest Marvel villain rating from test screenings.

After wrapping up his time as Batman with The Dark Knight Trilogy, Christian Bale has turned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Academy Award-winning actor is now taking a stab as the villain, playing Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Will Bale’s Gorr Top Thanos?

Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi has previously stated that Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher might be Marvel’s greatest villain to date. In a recent interview with Fandango, The Thor director went one step further based on test screenings:

“I’d say he’s the most sympathetic villain they’ve had. He’s also tested the highest out of any villain that Marvel’s had.”

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, and Russell Crowe.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8, 2022. Stay tuned for the latest news surrounding the upcoming film, and subscribe to Hero Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
