‘The Batman’ Star Colin Farrell Reveals Episode Count For Penguin Series

Colin Farrell has revealed the episode count for HBO Max’s The Batman spin-off series about The Penguin.

Matt Reeves is currently working on expanding his Batman universe with a new series revolving around The Penguin, with Colin Farrell reprising his role as the DC Comics villain. With production on the series expected to begin soon, Farrell has spoiled that it consits of eight episodes.

“It’s going to be an eight-part thing,” Farrell told Variety. “Around Oz’s rise to power, filling that power vacuum created when Falcone was killed. “Matt’s idea was to have the Penguin show begin about a week after the end of the Batman film. And if it works, if the trajectory is interesting, and the audience goes for it, and we do our jobs right, the second [Batman] feature will pick up where the HBO show will end.”

The Penguin is one of the most well-known and beloved villains in pages of DC Comics, and his recent appearance in the new Batman universe has fans eagerly anticipating the show’s premiere. The character is often depicted as a cunning and ruthless criminal who uses his wealth and connections to stay one step ahead of the law. In the series, fans can expect to see to learn more about this take on the Batman villain, as Farrell brings his own unique interpretation to the role.

Who is attached to the Penguin series?

The Penguin is set in the same universe as The Batman and sees Colin Farrell reprising his role as the villainous Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot. Cristin Milioti recently joined the show’s cast as Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Gotham city mob boss Carmine Falcone, played by John Turturro in The Batman.

Mare Of Easttown helmer Craig Zobel is directing the first two episodes of The Penguin, with Lauren LeFranc (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Chuck) overseeing the project as its writer and showrunner. Colin Farrell is an executive producer on the series alongside The Batman director Matt Reeves and producer Dylan Clark.

The Batman opened in theaters this past March, earning 770.8 million at the worldwide box office, a figure that makes it the firth highest-grossing movie of the year for now. Reeves is working on a sequel to the Warner Bros. project and currently writing its script alongside Mattson Tomlin.
