Is Creature Commandos already getting a season 2? The showrunner gives his hopes for the series as the release date nears.

Creature Commandos is one of the most highly anticipated shows of the holiday season. The series is a pet project made by James Gunn prior to him taking control of DC Studios. This left many to assume that it was a one-and-done due to his new responsibilities. However, it seems that showrunner Dean Lorey has some hope that the project will get a season 2 in the near future.

“Yeah, we absolutely want to do a second season,” Lorey explained in a recent interview with Screen Rant. “There’s no particular five-season plan or anything like that. But we definitely want to do another season.”

While Creature Commandos‘ release date is still just over a week away, fans are already in love with the series’ art style and wild tone. It would certainly be a treat to see the show get a season 2, especially if it’s meant to take up the mantle of the Suicide Squad series of films that fans have loved, even if they’ve suffered relatively poor performance at the box office.

The Plot Of Creature Commandos Season 2

This news already has fans speculating about the potential plot of Creature Commandos season 2. While Dean Lorey obviously wouldn’t spill any beans about the events of this first season, he did tease that the series does have some characters set up to return in a future installment if it does end up being greenlit by DC Studios.

“You will see, at the end of the first season, some of the characters that might be part of that, and there’s a lot of fun to come, I hope.”

It’s already been made clear that quite a few of the Creature Commandos members are set to die in their freshman outing, meaning that most of the main cast probably won’t be back for season 2. However, some heavy hitters like Frankenstein and the Bride may find their way into the broader DC Universe after the series, at least giving them a chance at a return.

Creature Commandos is scheduled to premiere on Max on December 5th. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe.
