The successor to Daniel Craig as the next James Bond will likely skew younger, according to a report.
After 15 years, Daniel Craig has officially retired from his post as James Bond. The actor made his debut in the 2006 reboot, Casino Royale, and went on to appear in four more films: Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time to Die. Now, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are on the lookout for a new actor to take on the role, and reports claim that they are searching for younger actors.
According to Express, the producers are reportedly seeking actors in their 30’s to take on James Bond. Daniel Craig was 38 when he starred in Casino Royale, and is now 54. The report made this claim after Outlander actor Sam Heughan was “ruled out” of consideration. Heughan is 42.
Idris Elba and Henry Cavill unlikely?
With age reportedly a major factor in Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson finding a new James Bond, that likely puts actors such as Idris Elba and Henry Cavill out of the running as candidates. Both of these actors have long been fan-favorites to take over the mantle from Daniel Craig. In the meantime, fan-favorite actors such as Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddleston are in their early 40’s, which likely rules them out as well.
Some other actors that have been discussed to possibly be the successor to Daniel Craig as James Bond include the likes of Tom Holland, Regé-Jean Page, John Boyega, Daniel Kaluuya, Riz Ahmed, Dev Patel, and Henry Golding. It’s only a matter of time to see who will end up taking on the role, and it’s safe to say that Craig is a hard act to follow.
Here is the synopsis for Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond, No Time to Die:
Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, No Time to Die stars Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux, Rory Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright, Rami Malek, Ana de Armas, Lashana Lynch, Billy Magnussen, David Dencik, and Dali Benssalah.
