The Suicide Squad star Daniela Melchior reveals the first full look at her new Fast and Furious character in Fast X.
Last year F9: The Fast Saga was released in theaters. While the film was not critically well-received it still managed to be one of the biggest films since the Covid-19 pandemic began. It would go on to earn well over $726M worldwide and became the fifth highest-grossing film of that year. Anyone who saw the film, however, will tell you that something was missing from it.
The last time Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham appeared fully in the main Fast and Furious films was in Fate of the Furious. Johnson and series star and co-producer Vin Diesel had issues throughout the production of the film, resulting in the former leaving the main series. Johnson and Statham went on to star in the Hobbs & Shaw spinoff. While Statham made a cameo appearance in F9, Johnson was absent altogether and apparently has no desire to return to the franchise.
Since Dwayne Johnson’s decline, the cast of the franchise’s latest installment, Fast X, constantly seems to be expanding. Aquaman star Jason Momoa joined the series as a supporting antagonist, with Captain Marvel star Brie Larson joining in an unknown role. In between these two announcements, it was revealed that Daniela Melchior had also been added to the cast of the upcoming film.
Daniela Melchior gained notoriety thanks to her role as Rat Catcher 2 in James Gunn’s 2021 film, The Suicide Squad. She was cast in Fast X back in March and very little has been revealed about her role. In a recent post, the actress shared a full look at the character, revealing a rosery cross tattooed on her arm. You can see the full post on Melchior’s Instagram page.
Here is the synopsis for the Fast X predecessor, F9: The Fast Saga:
Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, this year’s The Suicide Squad).
F9 sees the return of Justin Lin as director, who helmed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters of the series when it transformed into a global blockbuster. The action hurtles around the globe—from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tblisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.
The upcoming installment, Fast X, is being directed by Louis Leterrier and stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Michael Rooker, Charlize Theron, Jason Momoa, Daniela Melchior, Brie Larson, Scott Eastwood, Alan Ritchson, and Rita Moreno.
Fast X is currently set to hit theaters on May 19, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming film and Daniela Melchior’s role in it and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
