Aquaman star Jason Momoa is in talks to join to Vin Diesel’s upcoming Fast and Furious 10.
It looks like family is going aquatic! After a successful ninth entry, Universal Studios and Vin Diesel are set to return for Fast and Furious 10. Details are slim on where the family will go next, but a potential new crewmember appears to have been found. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Aquaman star Jason Momoa is in final negotiations to join Universal’s tenth entry in the Fast and Furious franchise.
It’s unknown who Jason Momoa will play in the film, though the outlet speculates that the Aquaman hero could potentially play a villain. Momoa’s recent cinematic output has seen him as wholly good so it would definitely be exciting to see him get up to some mischief. However, this is Fast and Furious, and it’s entirely possible that Momoa could be anybody’s family.
The film is set to begin shooting this spring and is eyeing a 2023 release. Vin Diesel and the rest of the crew, including Charlize Theron, are expected to return for the tenth entry in the franchise. Diesel most recently made it public that he wants to see Dwayne Johnson reprise his role as Hobbs for the film, though the wrestler-turned-actor shot the return down.
Here is the official synopsis for the franchise’s latest installment, F9: The Fast Saga:
Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, this year’s The Suicide Squad).
F9 sees the return of Justin Lin as director, who helmed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters of the series when it transformed into a global blockbuster. The action hurtles around the globe—from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tblisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.
Directed Justin Lin from a script written by Daniel Casey, Fast and Furious 9 stars Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Cardi B and Sung Kang, with Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron.
