Daredevil Producer Says Season 3 Takes Place Before Avengers: Infinity War

Marvel’s Jeph Loeb recently revealed where the new season of Daredevil takes place in the MCU relative to Avengers: Infinity War.

The Marvel Netflix shows have referenced the events and characters of the MCU over the years, such as the battle of New York and “the big green guy”. Although the shows have attempted to connect the universes, the movies themselves have completely ignored the Marvel Netflix universe. The MCU hasn’t even made an effort to include the characters or events from the series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., despite multiple cast members from The Avengers making cameos, which makes sense considering the huge amount of characters and world-building that those films have to worry about delivering on already. Most notably in this year’s epic team-up Avengers: Infinity War.

Though some fans dropped the hope of ever seeing Luke Cage (Mike Colter) or Daredevil (Charlie Cox) fighting alongside the likes of Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Jeph Loeb is trying to keep that dream alive. While speaking about the newly-released Daredevil season 3 alongside showrunner Erik Oleson at New York Comic-Con, Loeb revealed to CNET that they did make an effort to make sure that the show still fits into the MCU timeline. This is what Loeb had to say about where season 3 of Daredevil fits into the MCU in relation to one, particularly iconic event.

“This is a story that would take place before the snap.”

Loeb is, of course, referring to the iconic Infinity Gauntlet snap that took place at the end of this year’s Avengers: Infinity War. Loeb went on to reveal why exactly it was decided to have the series take place pre-snap.

“It just is easier for us to be able to maintain our continuity.”

Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world, or embracing his destiny as a hero.

Daredevil season 3 stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Jay Ali, and Lesley Ann Warren.

Daredevil season 3 is currently available to stream on Netflix.
