It was recently revealed that Marvel Studios would be completely overhauling Daredevil: Born Again for Disney Plus. The new directors for the project revealed the current status of the series in an interview.
Loki veterans Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are the new directors steering the ship for Daredevil: Born Again. With the new blood hired, Marvel fans have been wondering when the Disney Plus series will start filming again. However, it seems as though Marvel Studios isn’t quite ready to ramp up production again.
“We have the best answer for you. So you see this space we’re in right now? This is our office and we just found out we have an office about 45 minutes ago. And that’s what we’re at with Daredevil.” Benson and Moorhead told The Wrap. “It is day zero. We’re currently just consuming Daredevil content, not just the Netflix show but all the possible material. We’re just making our stew of information nice and thick.”
It’s certainly a relief to fans that the new directors behind Daredevil: Born Again are taking the time to really dig into the material. The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is one of the most complex characters in comics, with a new Disney Plus series able to show new facets of the character not even fans of the Netflix series have seen. It seems as though Marvel Studios have finally found good hands for Matt Murdock.
What to expect from the new Daredevil series
Marvel Studios recently scrapped the entire creative team for Daredevil: Born Again due to internal criticism. The previous incarnation of the show focused mainly on the legal aspects of Matt Murdock, with the hero not suiting up until episode 4. The series is expected to go through a complete creative rework to focus more on action and violence, just like the Netflix version.
Little is known of Daredevil: Born Again, with plot details being kept under wraps. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Sandrine Holt, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Nikki M. James, and Michael Gaston are set to appear in the series opposite Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a Kingpin.
