Daredevil: Born Again is currently going through a complete creative overhaul. However, earlier drafts of the Disney Plus series seemingly featured a surprising Marvel Cinematic Universe cameo.
New details about the original story of Daredevil: Born Again have been coming out ever since it was announced the show would be getting a rework. This includes one surprising cameo from the broader MCU. According to Streamr writer Caiden Reed, the original draft of the series was meant to feature Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes. It’s currently unclear if Stan will appear in the reworked version of the Disney Plus series.
Sebastian Stan appearing in Daredevil: Born Again is far from unprecedented. Daredevil and The Winter Soldier have crossed paths several times in the comics, most often with one trying to kill the other. Having Bucky Barnes appear in the most anticipated Disney Plus show wouldn’t only be a fun tie-in with the comics, but likely have broader implications for the MCU with the Thunderbolts film. Hopefully, the cameo will persist throughout the new draft of the series!
What to expect from the new Daredevil series
Marvel Studios recently scrapped the entire creative team for Daredevil: Born Again due to internal criticism. The previous incarnation of the show focused mainly on the legal aspects of Matt Murdock, with the hero not suiting up until episode 4. The series is expected to go through a complete creative rework to focus more on action and violence, just like the Netflix version.
Little is known of Daredevil: Born Again, with plot details being kept under wraps. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Sandrine Holt, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Nikki M. James, and Michael Gaston are set to appear in the series opposite Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a Kingpin.
