Daredevil: Born Again is set to be the grand reintigration of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock into the Marvel Cinematic Universe after years of being relegated to his own Netflix universe. While fans expected to see connections to the broader Marvel universe in this show, they likely didn’t expect one of those references to be to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Daredevil has always served as one of the more grounded heroes in the Marvel universe despite his appearances in series like Spider-Man and She-Hulk. For a time, Ant-Man also seemed to fill this role in the MCU. Despite the inherent ridiculousness in the premise of a man shrinking down and talking to ants, the first two films in the franchise were mostly focused on heists and the relationships Scott Lang had with the people around him. It was only recently with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania that the series leaned hard into its science fiction roots, making it one of the strangest films in the MCU to date. This makes it even odder that the first reference to the broader Marvel universe seen in Daredevil: Born Again is a hat referencing Hope Van Dyne’s company in the film:
The Pym Van Dyne Foundation is the new name taken on by Pym Technologies after being inactive for over a decade following the events of the first Ant-Man film. While its unlikely we’ll be seeing Scott or the rest of the Ant-Family appear in Daredevil: Born Again, this blink-and-you-miss-it reference is sure to catch fans off guard while also leaving a smile on their face that Daredevil has finally returned home.
What to expect from the new Daredevil series
Little is known of Daredevil: Born Again, with plot details being kept under wraps. Jon Bernthal, Sandrine Holt, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Nikki M. James and Michael Gaston are set to appear in the series opposite Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. Matt Corman and Chris Ord are writing and executive producing for Marvel.
Unfortunately for fans of Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, it has been confirmed that neither character will be returning for Daredevil: Born Again. The news has been met with disappointment from fans, as both characters played significant roles in the original Netflix series. However, it’s important to remember that the series is still in its early stages, and there’s always a chance that the characters could make a surprise appearance in future seasons.
Daredevil: Born Again is currently scheduled to premiere in Spring 2024 on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
