Is Muse the true villain of Daredevil: Born Again? Showrunner Dario Scardapane speaks on if or how the iconic serial killer will play a role in season 2.
Muse has become an oddity in Daredevil: Born Again. Fans have gotten to know so much about the show, not only from the episodes they’ve already seen, but set photos from season 2 teasing that there’s many shocking developments set to come in the coming weeks. However, despite being nearly halfway through the series, there’s been little-to-no concrete details about Muse.
Yet it seems the showrunner is fine tipping his hand about Muse before the character is even properly fleshed out in Daredevil: Born Again. When speaking to TV Line, Dario Scardapane revealed that the character has a lot more runway than fans might expect. And it seems that runway, and its consequences, will be felt heading into the (currently filming) season 2 of the series.
“I call Muse a stressor in this story, in that in the battle between Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) and Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Muse causes a ripple effect,” Scardapane explains. “He causes trouble for Fisk. He causes trouble for Matt Murdock.”
“The Muse run, for lack of a better word, in this story has pretty shocking consequences. And those consequences don’t end. We’re carrying them into Season 2, is the best way I can put it.”
Will Muse Return In Daredevil: Born Again?
Some fans are taking this quote to suggest that Muse is certain to at least survive the events of Daredevil: Born Again season 1, with him continuing to cause problems heading into season 2. There’s certainly a lot of evidence to support that, not the least of which being that set photos suggest that a stunt double for the actor is on set for the project.
However, it’s important to note that showrunner Dario Scardapane specifically said his “consequences” will carry into season 2. This leaves a lot of room open for interpretation about what could happen to Muse through the rest of Daredevil: Born Again. It’s possible for the character to be on the lamb, but it’s equally possible for him to be in jail or even dead. So much like his art, what this means is up for interpretation by the viewer.
