Does Vincent D’Onofrio have big plans for Kingpin? The actor suggests that the crew already has plans for Daredevil: Born Again season 3, with hopes for a feature crossover.
There used to be a time when television shows would have to plan for multiple seasons. 2, 3, and beyond! However, nowadays, most projects are lucky to survive even their freshman outing, let alone continue on into and past season 3. This has left many to wonder what the place of Daredevil: Born Again is in the modern streaming landscape, the fate of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock left in the interminable void of studio politics.
Luckily, Daredevil: Born Again seems more prepared than most. The show is currently only renewed through season 2, which is set to premiere next March. However, when speaking about the show’s future, Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio revealed that they do have plans for the project if it ever manages to meet the bar set by the Netflix incarnation with a season 3.
“If they let us do it, we have a plan,” D’Onofrio explained to Awards Buzz. “It is up to the fans to watch and to get excited. And it is up to us to please them and get the story right. We are looking forward in a big way.”
Will Kingpin Appear In A Marvel Movie?
Though it seems as if Vincent D’Onofrio’s personal hopes for his character extend beyond Daredevil: Born Again. Following on from discussions about a potential season 3 and looking forward with Kingpin, the actor revealed that he personally believes the rights will eventually be settled with Sony in a way that allows him to appear on the silver screen. Though when or how that happens is certainly up in the air as of right now.
“I would love for them the rights thing figured out with Sony. I think that will eventually happen, I don’t know when or how they’re going about it, but I can’t imagine that they won’t figure out something. We’ll see.”
Of course, the biggest project fans would want to see Kingpin in is one of the upcoming Spider-Man films. While the fourth movie is already nearing production, a fifth would likely be starting up right as Vincent D’Onofrio wraps filming on Daredevil: Born Again season 3. So perhaps the stars truly are aligning for the Mutant Saga to be character’s big break!
