Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and various other Netflix Marvel shows are headed to Disney Plus.
It was revealed last month that Netflix’s Marvel shows would be leaving the streaming service. Shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones were canceled with the advent of Disney Plus, which became the formal home for all things Marvel. While the canon is still up for debate, Netflix’s Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders will be heading to Disney Plus later this month. The timing is pretty much perfect as Daredevil and Kingpin have been formally folded into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Perhaps the same fate awaits the rest of the characters who appeared on Netflix?
The move seemed unlikely at first considering the Netflix Marvel shows were known for their mature content mater which clashed with Disney Plus’ family-friendly and approachable nature. However, in a recent statement from Michael Paull, President of Disney Streaming, it was revealed that the stateside iteration of the streaming service would be receiving parental controls for the first time.
“Disney+ has served as the home for some of the most beloved brands in the industry, and the addition of these live-action shows brings more from the Marvel brand together, all in one place. We have experienced great success with an expanded content offering on Disney+ across our global markets and are excited to continue that here in the U.S. as well by offering our consumers not only great content with the new Marvel additions, but also a set of features that help ensure a viewing experience most suitable for them and their family.”
Here is the synopsis for Hawkeye:
Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Tony Dalton, Fra Free, Brian d’Arcy James, Aleks Paunovic, Piotr Adamczyk, Linda Cardellini, Simon Callow, Vera Farmiga, Alaqua Cox, Florence Pugh, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. Kevin Feige served as an executive producer on the series.
Hawkeye is available to stream on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding Vincent D’Onofrio’s future in the MCU as Kingpin, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
