Vincent D’Onofrio expressed interest in playing Kingpin against Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4.
After over three years since Netflix cancelled Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio made his triumphant return as the antagonist Wilson Fisk AKA Kingpin in Marvel Studios’ original Disney Plus series Hawkeye. Around the same time he appeared in the series, Matt Murdock actor Charlie Cox made his return to the role in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
With the return of certain players from Netflix’s Daredevil series, along with the possibility of more characters from Netflix’s other Marvel shows coming back, some are hopeful that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin could appear in future projects, including Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4, given that both Kingpin and Spider-Man have been adversaries in the comic books. Well, it turns out that the Hawkeye star is well-aware of such connections.
In a recent interview with The Sarah O’Connell Show, the Hawkeye star discussed future storytelling opportunities for his Kingpin to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including future Punisher, Daredevil and Spider-Man projects. In particular, he would love to face off against Tom Holland’s webhead:
“I mean, it’s obvious that Punisher, Daredevil, and Spider-Man are the ones that my character is tied to in the comic books. But there’s plenty of room for others, I can just only hope that that happens. But I mean, Spider-Man definitely. I think that would be really really fun… I want it as much as everybody does, so we’ll see.”
Vincent D’Onofrio would be the first live-action Kingpin to face off against Spider-Man if he were to appear in Tom Holland’s fourth film. The character was the primary antagonist in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, in which he faced off against Miles Morales and the other Spider-Men from different universes.
Vincent D’Onofrio was last seen as Kingpin in Hawkeye. Here is the synopsis:
Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Tony Dalton, Fra Free, Brian d’Arcy James, Aleks Paunovic, Piotr Adamczyk, Linda Cardellini, Simon Callow, Vera Farmiga, Alaqua Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. Florence Pugh also returned in her Black Widow role.
The first season of Hawkeye is now available to stream on Disney Plus. Meanwhile, Spider-Man: No Way Home is in theaters now.
