The Spider-Man: No Way Home script revealed the inspiration for Tom Holland’s new suit.
Over the course of three team-up films and three standalone films of his own, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker had the chance to wear a few different suits as Spider-Man. In Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming, we see him don both his own makeshift outfit as well as the new one that Iron Man built for him. In other films, the inseparable link to Tony Stark’s designs are apparent, but by the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland’s new suit seemingly received inspiration from new mentors.
Earlier this week, the screenplay for No Way Home hit the web, and towards the end of the script, we get a description of Tom Holland’s new suit. The script confirms that after his adventure with both the Webb-Verse Peter (Andrew Garfield) and the Raimi-Verse Peter (Tobey Maguire), he got inspiration to design his own suit with eye-popping red and blue, with a clear link to the suits the other two Peter Parkers wore.
You can read the snippet from the script to No Way Home down below:
“Spider-Man flips and rolls across a snowy roof in a BLUE AND RED SUIT (new for him, but reminiscent of suits he’s seen before). Spider-Man leaps and soars over the Rockefeller Christmas tree with a newfound sense of freedom. Liberated from having to juggle two lives. Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man lives on…”
The journey in which Tom Holland’s Peter Parker embarks on with the other two variants of himself really left an impact on him by the time No Way Home concludes. Fighting alongside his two mentors certainly showcased to him that despite his unique pain, somehow and somewhere, there are at least two other Peter Parkers in the Multiverse that truly relate to his experiences. Because of this, his new red and blue suit as Spider-Man is a way to honor his Multiversal friends.
Here is the synopsis for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home:
“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”
