Marvel Studios will get the rights back to Daredevil in six months, since it’s nearly been two years since the Netflix show was cancelled.
Although Netflix’s Daredevil was cancelled with much uproar from fans, it hasn’t stopped the “Save Daredevil” campaign from pushing for Matt Murdock’s return. Following the show’s cancelation, the rights clause for Daredevil meant Marvel Studios wasn’t allowed to revisit any of the characters in the series for at least two years. Fans have long-debated whether Marvel Studios would recast the role to make the character their own or if they’d bring Charlie Cox back to defend Hell’s Kitchen once again.
The Save Daredevil Instagram account recently reminded fans that it’s been 18 months since the series was cancelled by Netflix, meaning there’s only six months until the moratorium ends and the rights revert back to Marvel Studios. After the recent triumph of the Release The Snyder Cut campaign, it’s possible the movement surrounding the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen could be equally successful. Hopefully Marvel Studios find a way to get Charlie Cox back to the role, either in another season of the series or on the big screen.
