It was recently announced that Sandrine Holt had been cast as Vanessa Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again, replacing actress Ayelet Zurer, who portrayed the character in the Netflix series. Zurer took to Instagram to react to this news and express support for her co-star Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin.
Many fans were disappointed at the news of Ayelet Zurer being recast. Despite not being a large player in the comics, Vanessa Fisk played a key role in the Daredevil Netflix series. She was instrumental in giving Wilson Fisk an emotional core for the show to play with and transforming him into the true Kingpin of crime. Following the announcement of the recasting, Zurer took to Instagram to show support for D’Onofrio despite not playing alongside him again:
“Sad to not take part,” Zurer posted in a now removed Instagram story. “But I will always be Vincent D’Onofrio’s biggest fan.”
Zurer may not be the only Daredevil actor being recast in the new show. Unfortunately for fans of Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, it has been confirmed that neither character will be returning for Daredevil: Born Again. The news has been met with disappointment from fans, as both characters played significant roles in the original Netflix series. However, it’s important to remember that the series is still in its early stages, and there’s always a chance that the characters could make a surprise appearance in future seasons.
What to expect from the new Daredevil series
Little is known of Daredevil: Born Again, with plot details being kept under wraps. Jon Bernthal, Sandrine Holt, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Nikki M. James and Michael Gaston are set to appear in the series opposite Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. Matt Corman and Chris Ord are writing and executive producing for Marvel.
