David Corenswet’s ‘Superman’ Dethrones ‘Man Of Steel’ As Highest Viewed Trailer For The Character

Superman beats out the Man of Steel!

David Corenswet takes the crown from Henry Cavill! The first trailer for Superman has officially surpassed Man of Steel in views.

Ever since David Corenswet picked up the mantle of Superman from Henry Cavill. While who one ultimately preferred was up to taste, defenders of both actors attempted to argue why their preferred actor to the other. One argument to note from the camp still supporting Cavill over Corenswet was that general audiences still see the former as the Man of Steel, meaning it would be a struggle for Corneswet to stake his claim in the character as many have before him.

Yet it seems, at least in one way, David Corenswet may be more popular than Henry Cavill. The first trailer for the upcoming Superman film in the DC Universe recently surpassed Man of Steel to become the highest viewed trailer in the character’s solo film career. This wasn’t too high of a bench to clear, given they’re the only two movies to come out for the character since Youtube has existed, but is still certainly a momentous occasion for fans of the character.

David Corenswet’s Path As Superman

Even though Superman isn’t out yet, it’s clear that David Corenswet’s path as Superman will be vastly different from Henry Cavill’s. Man of Steel was an attempt to ignite a franchise under a director’s singular vision. As complications arose, studio interference, delays, and personal tragedies kept Cavill from ever truly making his mark as the Big Blue Boy Scout.

In contrast, David Corenswet is simply the first installment in a franchise helmed by James Gunn and Peter Safran, who have already greenlit a litany of projects without their direct involvement. This ensures Corenswet’s longevity as the Man of Steel better than anything else done in Henry Cavill’s tenure as Superman. This isn’t to say one is better than the other, but one is certainly seeing more support from their studio than the other did in their time.

Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
