Is David Harbour the new Tom Holland? The Thunderbolts star accidentally confirmed a massive spoiler for the MCU’s upcoming team-up film.
One of the biggest mysteries in Thunderbolts is what exactly the deal is with Lewis Pullman’s character Bob. It’s clear he’s a superhuman of some kind, and has potentially been experimented on by the government, but the trailers have kept any information about his character close to their chest. That is, until a recent interview where David Harbour accidentally let slip that Pullman may actually be playing the Sentry.
“Yeah, I don’t think he knows what to make of that,” Harbour admitted when speaking of Alexei’s relationship with Bob in Thunderbolts during a recent interview with Omelete. “I mean, again, we’ll have to see how it unfolds with all of that. I don’t think you guys know much about Bob/Sentry yet, so you’ll have to see what that becomes in this movie. I don’t want to give too much away.”
Of course, the reveal that Lewis Pullman is actually playing the Sentry in Thunderbolts might be one of the most open secrets in all of the MCU. Robert Kirkman spoiled the twist all the way back when Steven Yeun was playing Bob. However, David Harbour’s slip is the closest fans have gotten to a official confirmation of the twist, technically making it a true Marvel spoiler flub.
David Harbour’s Role In Thunderbolts
When it was announced that David Harbour would be playing a major role in Thunderbolts, many fans assumed that he would be canon fodder to the film’s villain (now seemingly confirmed to be Lewis Pullman’s Sentry) to further Yelena Belova’s character development. However, the odd focus on Alexei’s relationship with Bob may reveal something much more interesting hiding beneath the film’s surface.
One of the most defining traits of David Harbour’s Alexei heading into Thunderbolts is that he was Yelena Belova and Natasha Romanoff’s father. Given what we know about Lewis Pullman’s role as Bob, it’s likely he didn’t have a strong father figure. It’s possible that either Harbour himself or his character’s inspiration to Yelena could be enough to pull Sentry away from the dark side in the climax of the film, giving the villain the family he never had.
Thunderbolts is currently set to hit theaters on May 2, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
