Deadpool and Wolverine could have looked a lot different! Concept art gives fans an early look at designs for Ladypool and another Deadpool Corps member.
One of the most anticipated elements confirmed for Deadpool and Wolverine prior to release was the debut of the Deadpool Corps. The team was confirmed through multiple pieces of merch showcasing its members. However, perhaps the most iconic member of the group in Ladypool was largely absent, leading to rampant speculation about the character’s role.
While Ladypool didn’t play a large part in Deadpool and Wolverine, her short cameo did feel pulled perfectly out of a comic book. However, her design was originally much different. Concept art from senior costume illustrator Jonay Bacallado reveals that her costume was originally much more detailed than how she looked in the final film, including much more black and zippers than what was seen on the silver screen.
Dogpool Joins The Deadpool Corps
Ladypool wasn’t the only member of the Deadpool Corps that went through design changes in Deadpool and Wolverine. Another piece of concept art from Jonay Bacallado reveals that Dogpool originally had a much more complicated design than what made it to screen, including a mask and a dog tag with a different design from the iconic Deadpool logo.
Ultimately, these pieces of concept art likely weren’t translated perfectly to screen just because of how complicated they would have been to design. Especially the tiny mask for Dogpool! The simplified costumes in Deadpool and Wolverine certainly did the Deadpool Corps justice, even if fans may have wanted more of a role from members like Ladypool.
