Deadpool and Wolverine could introduce the scariest Marvel Cinematic Universe villain yet. A new rumor suggests that a truly demented Cassandra Nova will be making her big-screen debut in the upcoming MCU film.
Officially, there’s no word on who will be the main villain of Deadpool and Wolverine. Yet between a short snippet from the teaser and a tidal wave of rumors during the film’s production, it’s all but confirmed that Cassandra Nova, the sister of Professor X, will be the main villain of the project.
Details about Cassandra Nova’s involvement in Deadpool and Wolverine have been sparse. After all, who wants to share the news about an evil bald twin when there are multiversal cameos around every corner? However, according to scooper Cryptic HD Quality, Nova will be a truly terrifying presence in the MCU, and faithful to the comics to boot.
“One of the things mentioned to help fight against Cassandra’s telepathy is Magneto’s helmet.” They continued. “Unfortunately, she already got it,” the scooper revealed on X/Twitter. They later added more details in another post. “Cassandra Nova stays faithful and true to the source material. She’s evil and twisted. A serious nutcase of a villain. She has no regard for life and is a very formidable adversary.”
If Cassandra Nova already has Magneto’s helmet by the time Deadpool and Wolverine takes place, it suggests the villain is much stronger and has been working for much longer than fans could have imagined. While it’s unlikely she’ll survive the film to become a bigger force in the MCU, it’s refreshing for fans to have a villain who seems like a true threat to the heroes.
Who Is Deadpool and Wolverine‘s Cassandra Nova?
With Cassandra Nova still not officially confirmed to be in Deadpool and Wolverine, no official casting has been announced for the character. However, it has been confirmed that Emma Corrin will be playing the film’s villain. It doesn’t take Professor X to put two and two together, even ignoring the rumors confirming the casting from last year.
In the comics, Cassandra Nova was the fraternal twin of Charles Xavier who he tried to kill while they were still in the womb due to sensing her evil intentions. Cassandra survives the attack, reforming her body in the sewers of New York and formulating a plan to get revenge on Professor X and his mutants.
The scoop that Deadpool and Wolverine will be adapting a comic-accurate Cassandra Nova seems to suggest the entire film will revolve around the villain trying to get revenge against the X-Men for how her brother treated her. This would certainly explain why she seems intent on erasing the mutants from existence. However, it seems fans will have to wait until the film drops to see the true depths of her plan.
Deadpool and Wolverine is currently expected to be released on July 26, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
